Jesus Christ was born in a manger or a shed where animals were kept. When he grew up, he led a very humble life. He did not wear any jewelry nor did he frequent the pompous palaces of kings and princes. He preached everywhere in every town and village around Galilee, Cana, Jericho and Capernaum. He did not choose the places to go nor the people to be with. Any place was in fact alright for him to preach the gospel and spread the Good News about the Kingdom. But alas, Jesus Christ had many followers who choose not to emulate his simplicity but instead built magnificent buildings to worship God.
Right now, there are thousands of churches around the world whose architectural design ranges from simple minimalist structures to superbly intricate designs that you’ll never think ancient architects can do. Some of these churches stood magnificently for hundreds of years since they were built. Even with today’s standards these churches still baffle modern architects and designers. Their works are considered as immortal marvels of human genius. Indeed it is very hard to think how they were able to make such extremely detailed and complicated patterns in perfect geometric shapes without the aid of modern technology. Back then, they did not have AutoCAD, 3ds Max modeling nor Photoshop that could have made their designing job easier. Yet, their works are masterpieces of art that stood the test of time for centuries.
Let’s go now and check these truly breathtaking churches and be fascinated with their look. Some of these have modern designs while most are from the medieval period. Anyway, we admit that this list is not complete. We know that there are still other churches around the world which are truly remarkable and as such worthy to be included here. If you know any, please write their links in the comments below. We will be more than happy to include them in a future update of this post if it needs be. This is just a very short list so, there are still breathtaking pictures of churches around the world that must be put in here. We will also be glad if you will share this to your friends via Facebook, Twitter, Stumble, Digg or Google +1. Also if you run a church website please let us know if you showcase photos of your church online. We hope that this article can lighten up your day as you go on with your daily tasks. Happy viewing!

Thanks for the page. I could see many awesome churches! Though I will not be able to visit any of these churches in my lifetime, I will surely share the page and the links to my friend and atleast make them visit( those able to). I showed it to my parents and they were just WOW!!!!
These are amazing! I Would love to visit some of these spectacular places!!
Maravilloso…un abrazo desde Colombia
Beautiful imagery; but I don’t understand the tone of your opening paragraph. If Jesus is God, omnipotent and omniscient, everything He did, and the people He chose to follow Him was deliberate. 🙂 And if Jesus is God, these human pieces of beautiful architecture are a tribute and an act of worship for Him, an attempt to mirror the greatness and beauty of a man who is also God. It isn’t contrary in the least – it’s an attempt to draw the eye upward.
Dear Sonny Day,
I love traveling and praying that before I retire I can visit all these churches.
Proud to say I visited the church from Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Tessie!
It’s good to know that you have already visited St. Augustine Catholic Church in Paoay, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. It is just one of the churches built by the Filipinos under the direction of Spaniards during their 300-year rule of the Philippines. Hope you can visit all of these churches. 🙂
