This post will present the Jetpack Wordpress plugins. It is one of the most popular plugins out there right now with more than a million downloads. It is popular and it is not a coincidence. The plugin helps website owners in a number of ways from Simple, concise site stats and a build-in Spelling and Grammar tool to Gravatar Hovercards and a useful Social Sharing tool.
Automattic launched Jetpack in early 2011. The whole idea was to provide as many WordPress.com features as possible to self-hosted WordPress.org websites and blogs, and I think it is fair to say that they have come out right.
It has been a year and a half now, and this marvelous plugin package is still delivering serious value to WordPress sites. They have even added a few new features not included in the initial release. Yes, I know that most Jetpack features can also be acquired by installing other WordPress plugins, but with Jetpack one will get all of them for free, in one installation, plus the administration placed in one place with precise and easy configuration.
It is easy to install Jetpack it is the same as with any other WordPress plugin. Just download the package and install it. The only thing that is quite different is that one will need to connect to a WordPress.com account to activate the Jetpack features. Do not let this become an obstacle. If one does not have an account, just create one for the purpose.
Lets have a look at the features in the Jetpack plugin. I hope the information is useful and, please do not forget to leave a comment. I like to hear your opinion, and if one have experience using the plugin, please tell us about it.

After installing and activating Jetpack this admin area will appear inside the WordPress admin panel. From here all the features can be configured and also plugin features not to be used can be deactivated.
As one will see it includes multiple Plugins and some of them are well known plugins like After the Deadline, Sharedaddy, Wickett Twitter Widget, Gravatar, WP.me URL shortener, and WordPress.com Stats.
After the deadline is a handy spelling and grammar tool that will help get articles right before publish. I use it my self and it works fine. It is not as powerful as tools like Grammarly, but it does the work.
The WordPress.com Stats tool is also nice to have inside the WordPress work space. It will provide basic information about the site visitor stats, top post & pages, where traffic is coming from and search engine terms.
Shortcodes is a great invention that helps speed up the blogging process. Jetpack allows us to enter a short code directly into Posts or Pages in the WordPress editor to embed media. It is easy and safe to embed media from other places like YouTube, Flickr and other media.
With the Enhanced Distribution activated Jetpack will also automatically take the good published content from ones blog or website and share it instantly with third party services like search engines, increasing reach and traffic.
There is more powerful features to discover when using Jetpack, but I recommend reading more about Jetpack and to clarify if it is the right plugin for ones website before installing.
