Backlit photography is one where the light source comes from behind the subject. To take a beautiful photo under such condition is challenging. That is why, if you are interested to know the techniques involved, you must be prepared to exert some effort. For one, it requires that the photographer correctly adjusts the exposure level of his camera to minimize the flare due to the strong light beam behind the subject. Also, the photographer has to position his subject so that the sun does not directly hit his/her face if he is shooting a portrait or one that involves people. Furthermore, the shooter has to mind other camera settings like proper configuration of aperture and etc. Basically, it is important for photographers to know how to use the light of the sun to his advantage in taking not only backlit subjects but in general, capturing photos during summer on broad daylight, and shooting photos during sunset.
